There's a saying I learned a few years ago, and I discover it is true for my life. It may also have meaning - http://www.wired.com/search?query=meaning for you in case you consider it. The expression is "Nothing will change until the discomfort of change is under the pain of remaining the same."
I have to be truthful, I am lazy when it comes to exercising. You will find many other activities I would prefer to do with the time of mine. Nonetheless, sixty pounds ago, remaining as fat as I was caused me much more pain than performing a little something about it would, and training was a key player in losing that weight.
With the exercise came a number of surprises. There was more good things about performing it than had occurred to me when I was fighting the concept as hard as I could. Here's what I found:
Depression: Getting out and getting moving can be valuable minor to moderate depression. You might still require your doctor's care as well as the medications required, although you will feel a great deal better, happier if you start working out. I discovered a walking track near the house of ours. It has a water fountain, pond and feels really peaceful. I have put many miles on that track.
Insomnia: If you exercise in the morning, you are going to find it easier to get to sleep by evening. There is a caveat to that...try to never exercise at least 4 hours before you go to bed, as it can keep you up for some time.
Self-Worth: It's easy for someone who is overweight to start to doubt the worth of theirs. It's type of like depression, however, it is different from the medical sort. However, as soon as I knew I was doing anything about it, I began to feel much more worthwhile. This may not happen to everyone, although it is an important consideration.
Pressure Relief: Did you actually pick up of the "runner's high?" That is the release of hormones in the brain that end soreness for a while. It is an excellent feeling, and the relief is well worth the effort.
Thinking: I get some of my best ideas when I'm exercising. I'm not sure if it is the ability to place the body on automated, still peddling away at the physical exercise bike or if there's another hormone that gets released.
